What choices do I have when shipping a vehicle overseas?

You can choose between the options of transporting in a container, via air freight or RoRo (Roll on/ Roll off). Using a container you can also choose between transporting a single vehicle in a 20ft or maybe together with other vehicles in a 40ft container. We understand that several factors must be considered and we'll therefore be glad to assist you making the right decision for your vehicle.

Is your service door to door?

We do offer door to door shipment. Whether your shipment includes the pre- and oncarriage can be found on the quote or shipping contract. If not please do not hesitate to contact us.

Is my vehicle insured during transport?

The freight forwarder is only liable for the minimum coverage and we recommend obtaining transport insurance. Due to our intense controls, we are able to minimize damages and are able to locate where damage occurred along the transport process. But unfortunately along the process risks are involved that nobody can influence (e.g. environmental influences). We work together with one insurance company for many years and can therefore offer very good rates. For further information don't hesitate to contact us.

Can I pack personal belongings in my vehicle for transport?

This depends on the chosen transport method.

If the vehicle gets transported via RoRo no personal effects inside the car are allowed, beside spare tire and factory fitted accessories.

Personal effects are allowed using a container transport. But then a detailed packing list with the values will be necessary. Additionally an invoice in case you want to send new goods.

Does someone have to be present for pick-up and delivery of a vehicle?

Yes, we need someone to be there for the pickup and also the delivery to sign for both processes. This person can be you or someone who has your permission and the keys.

Can I track my shipment progress online?

No, you can't track it online yet. We are currently working on this possibility. Meanwhile we will be glad to help and inform you about the latest status of your shipment and further details.

Is American Freight Line S.E. Inc. licensed to ship vehicles?

Yes, we are bonded and a licensed NVOCC and Freight Forwarder NO.020377NF.

Can I leave my license plates on the vehicle?

We recommend taking license plates off the vehicle.

Do I need to fill the gas tank?

No, due to U.S. Coast Guard regulations, only one-quarter tank of gas is permitted for RO/RO or container shipments. Tanks containing more gas that allowed will get drained by our trained receiving personnel.

Do I need the original vehicle title in order to ship my vehicle?

Yes, the original title is necessary to export / import a car. For further details please contact us.

Can I ship my leased vehicle overseas?

Financed cars need a "Lien Release". This can be shown by a signature and stamp on the original title or a separate letter of the lien holder together with the original title. If the lean is not paid off yet, please contact us directly and we will be glad to inform you about the requirements.

What if my vehicle does not run?

We also arrange transports for so-called non-runners. As additional handling is necessary certain fees will apply but the transport is possible. Please contact us for further details.

What happens if my automobile arrives damaged?

Inform us immediately about the damage to your vehicle. If you obtained our transport insurance we will than inform you about further steps.

What forms of payment are acceptable?

You can pay by wire transfer, cashier check or cash at our office. Credit Cards will not be accepted.
